Malaysia First Ever National Energy Efficiency Master Plan (NEEMP) Study

Cofreth Malaysia, in collaboration with Primetech Engineers, was appointed by KeTTHA (Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water) as the Energy Consultant to develop Malaysia’s FIRST ever comprehensive National Energy Efficiency Master Plan (NEEMP).

Cofreth–Primetech Consortium (CPC) was led by its Project Director, Ir. Ong Ching Loon and Project Manager, Ir. Chen Thiam Leong. Both Ir. Ong and Ir. Chen were supported by professionals of diverse specializations and a team of researchers. The Consortium comprises of an Assistant Project Manager, three (3) Energy Consultants, one (1) Energy Planner, one (1) Legal and Quality Consultant, six (6) Energy Analysts, two (2) International Experts from Japan (Energy Planner and Energy Economist), and an Administrative Support staff. The project kicked off on 23rd June 2009 and was successfully completed on 24th June 2010 after the Final Report was accepted by the National Steering Committee chaired by the Secretary-General of KeTTHA.

During the various stages of the Project, the findings of the study were discussed in:
- 16 Project Meetings
- 5 Progress Meetings
- 3 Technical Work Group Workshops in Peninsular Malaysia
- 1 Technical Work Group Workshop each in Sabah & Sarawak
- 4 Technical Review Committee Meeting
- 2 National Steering Committee Meeting

The Master Plan was endorsed by APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Peer Review Working Group in 2011 and accepted by Malaysia’s Green Technology and Climate Change Council chaired by the Prime Minister.
